Passwords PDF Print E-mail

Several people have asked about what to do if you lose your password or want to change it. The first thing to understand is that the system doesn’t allow anyone to read existing passwords. When you first register on the site, you are asked to enter a password and the system e-mails it back to you by way of confirmation. The website co-ordinator's name will be on the e-mail but that’s all set up to work automatically so no one ever actually sees any passwords.

If you cannot remember your username, please contact the website coordinator who will be able to look it up and e-mail it back to you. However, if you cannot remember your password, you will need to get a new one. Enter your username in the appropriate box under “Log In Here” on the home page and then click on the words “Lost Password?”. (When you move your mouse pointer over them, they will be underlined.) The system will generate a new password for you and e-mail it to you. It probably won’t be anything that is easy to remember so, if you want to change it again, here’s what to do to change your password.

  1. Copy it from the e-mail then paste it into the “Password” field under “Log In Here” and that should allow you to log back into the site.
  2. Click on "Member Details" at the top, right-hand corner of the page and select the option for “My Own Profile” on the "Contacts" menu.
  3. This will take you to a page with two buttons along the top, just above your name in the heading. Let your mouse pointer hover over the “Edit” button, then select “Update Your Profile” from the sub-menu that appears on the screen.
  4. You will now see a page marked “Edit Your Details” with four tabs along the top. Click on the “Site Administration” tab.
  5. On this page you will see two blank fields marked “Password” and “Verify Password”. Type your new password into both fields. It must include at least six characters and may include numbers or letters. The system will observe the difference between lowercase and uppercase letters. You may not include spaces or control characters but may use other characters such as symbols that appear on the normal keyboard.
  6. At the bottom of the page there will be two buttons. Click on the one marked “Update”.
  7. You can then test that it’s working by clicking on the “Logout” button under “Log In Here” then entering your “username” and the new password to get back in.
